So battery goes down to 20% and Powerbook shuts off

I was just going to recalibrate my battery yesterday so I was using it and when the battery reached 20%, the laptop shut off. Is this normal? I recharged it today and according to istat, it has a 66% health rating but it was up in the 90-100% a couple days ago...

As in, when it went from full down to 20% it then shut off?

My old G4 PowerBook had a similar issue, it went from 100% slowly down to maybe 90% or so, and then immediatley dropped to 4% and then a couple of minutes later shut down.

I think that it probably has something to do with the circuitry in the battery incorrectly reporting the amount of charge left.

I am not positive how good the circuitry was in the older PowerBook batteries, but you might want to consider getting a newer after market battery for your PowerBook.

I had a similar issue with my powerbook. What does the battery say when you turn it back on. Mine would shut off after it got to a certain percentage (don't remember exactly, but was probably in the 10-20 range). When it turned back on, it was at 0%

Same thing happens to me. When I plugged it in, it showed zero. I don't mind it losing capacity but to just completely shut done when it says there is 20% left is crazy...
