I came home tonight and scared the living piss out of my room mate for some reason. He apologized for the door being locked, but apparently some people have been trying to get into our suite tonight. He went on to tell me someone had be trying to jar the window open in my room (we have a suite on the first floor, ground level). I looked arounded for signs of a forced entry, but couldn't find anything. There's also rocks outside of my room for the garden, and I didn't if the rocks had footprints in them or anything, at least I couldn't see any. We have another room in our dorm that is vacant and thats where we keep all our guitar equipment. I'm thinking about blacking the window out with some black paper. I do have a lot of money invested into my computer, so if this really is true, then thats what they were probably after.

I do remember one instance when I was moving in, this really fat kid who wears a trenchcoat asked me what the specs were of my PC. I mean, I told him since I figured he was another enthusiast like myself, but I'm probably just jumping to conclusions by thinking it was him trying to jack my stuff. He always gives me weird looks in the hallway.

Of course then again, maybe my roommates are giving me s**t.

But now I'm a little paranoid after this, lol. I actually thought about buying a webcam or something to monitor the window.

Cliffs:
1) Came home
2) Scared roommate
3) Roommate said someone has been trying to get into our suite at college
4) Roommate said there was rattling sounds coming from my room's window.
5) If this is true, they were probably after my PC (since its all I got really.)
6) Other room has lots of guitar stuff in it, going to black out the windows.
7) I recall an instance where a fat kid w/ a trenchcoat asks me about my PC
8) I figure I'm jumping to conclusions by thinking it was him.
9) He gives me weird looks in the hall.
10) I'm a little paranoid after this.

Coffecup Webcam has the ability to snap shots/video as a security device, and upload on the fly to a webserver of your choice. Someone comes in and jacks your comp, the proof will be online, not on the computer, you can catch em. If you're that paranoid, you can set that up.

Yes, it does. It looks at the image and compares it to the current frame, if anything changes it starts recording. Works pretty well, you put in the FTP info and it'll login and start uploading snapshots immediately.

You might want to mention this to your residence assistant or the campus police. I know my campus' main problem was with theft.

It is an excuse for your roommate to hug you. Does he watch you shower or compliment you on your 'smooth skin'?

Sounds to me like your roommate was whackin it and needed an excuse for the door being locked.

I don't think a fat person would try to break in through a window. We, the fat people, generally tend to be lazy, and do not enjoy crawling through windows.

Yeah, you're all probably right. The fat kid probably wouldn't be the one trying to jack my s**t. I've already got my heat. Cliffs are NOT as long as original post. I might look into the webcam thing... And otherwise I'll leave some slimfast out for Fattie.
