Yes yes I know most of you using vista probably turned off this visual enhancement but I do like it and wish it would work.

My problem is my windows would stop animating as if I had the visual effect off.

When does this occur?
Alt tabbing from WoW a lot
Sometimes after exiting wow
Watching youtube
Stage6.com

That's all I've noticed so far (although thats all I've been doing)

I did some research and been reading about dwm but it doesnt help me at all.

I've searched google for this issue for the past 3 days and nothing. I've posted on MS boards and nothing.

I've updated my nvidia drivers to the beta and it doesn't do anything.

Anyway here's the error in the event viewer:
The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because composition was disabled by a running application
A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (World of Warcraft)

Yes, it DOESN'T HELP AT ALL.

This is getting really frustrating and I'm going to format and start fresh this week if noone has any ideas or I can't resolve this although it probably wouldn't work either but at least I can knock one more off the list.
 
Is your system dropping out of Aero? Some programs are incompatible and switches Vista back to basic mode while the program is running. I know that Stage6 used to do that but I haven't tried it recently.
 
no aero is always on (glass transparency, glowing buttons etc.). It's just the animation of min/maxing turning off (maybe menu fade too but I don't notice that)
