So, apparently it was Quota Day for the Pennsylvania State Police

On my way in this morning - I counted 4 cruisers on my side of the highway and 2 on the other side. On my way home, I counted 8 on my side, and 6 on the other, PLUS 2 more that were actually moving. The flow of traffic was approximately speed limit - 10.

they sit outside my office cuz people fly down the 4 lane street. Like shooting fish in a barrel When I left yesterday they had 3 people pulled over within 100yds of each other.

Drove from Buffalo through to Maryland, most of it through Pennsylvania last night


Insane number of cops, friend was going 79 in a 65, only got a warning though

They don't call them quotas, but there are expectations as to the number of tickets written, for a lot of cops.

I was doing 75-80 in the left lane this morning and had to move over for a NJ state trooper doing 90. 🙂 I did see a lot of PA state troopers with people pulled over. I'll be careful on my way home.

In most states the Quota system is illegal. It's okay to put a relative minimum, like if someone only pulls over 10% of what everyone else did then they're not pulling their weight, but insofar as I know law enforcement isn't allowed to say "you need to pull over 90 people in the next week or you're fired."

There "is no quota". Official statements and reality don't always coincide (especially on matters like this)

And my commute is 30mi each way, about half of that in PA, and the vast majority of that in construction. There's also a state police barracks just off one of the exits.

Imagine if all the other cops ticket 20 people in a month, and you only have 3 under your belt. It's not going to look favorable for you or the city's revenues.

Btch all you want about petty speeding tickets, but you really can't blame a cop for "following the system".

My afternoon classes were cancelled and I never got my work schedule sent out, so I assume that either: 1) I've been fired or 2) She just didn't finish it yet (and she was out today and nobody had any idea what was going on)
