Depends how you look at it:

"All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again."

I just finished watching the whole series on Amazon Prime. No idea how I missed that show when it was airing. The first few seasons were great but then they got way to metaphysical in the later seasons.

Even though the last few seasons got strange I really enjoyed it and would like it if they had a few more seasons.

Anyone know if any of the spin offs are any good? The plot summaries just don't seem like something I'd be interested in at all.

turn it off with about 5 minutes to go in the last episode and it's one of the best series of all time.

I'm fine with the last episode, and how it worked out. (I thought it was kind of predictable anyway) It was just the whole seasons 3 and 4 working up to it that were a bear to get through.

There are those who believe...that life here began out there, far across the Universe...with tribes of humans...who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians...or the Toltecs...or the Mayans...that they may have been the architects of the Great Pyramids...or the lost civilizations of Lemuria...or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man...who even now fight to survive--somewhere beyond the heavens!

As someone who just recently finished the TV show, where do I get info on the new web series to figure out proper watching order and stuff?

Blood and Chrome is very good. Razor was alright from what I remember.

I actually liked Caprica and hoped that it would continue, but others didn't seem to like it much.

Ignore the new series and ignore Caprica. BSG was amazing. The others aren't.

caprica suffered from the same as SGU, first half or so of episodes were bland enough to kill much of the casual support and the series went down with that.

It wasn't run by Ron Moore... it was run by a former Buffy writer.

Yep, the ol' Adam and Eve plot. Back in the old days, any science fiction magazine would automatically reject your story if you tried to pull that one because it was so overdone.

The 1979 BSG was set roughly in the present, I guess: one episode (the last one IIRC) showed them receiving a transmission from the real Earth (of the Apollo moon landing).

(There was also "Galactica 1980", but fuck that.)

Anyway I loved the new BSG, even most of the ending. They were obviously winging it the entire time, rather than plotting everything in advance (like Babylon 5 for example), but it still worked out well enough. Never tried watching Caprica though.

Babylon 5 is often mentioned. Pretty much every single episode of that show had a deus ex machina ending... something swoops in at the last second to save the day. He didn't need to PLAN anything... considering the 4th season ended by having big daddy alien tell the 2 other aliens slaughtering the universe to knock it off.. ta da! Then the 5th season ended with absolutely nothing answered... tons of plots left open so he could sell books...

What a truly abysmal show that was... I don't think you'll see such corny and dreadful acting matched in a tv show any time soon...
