Report: White House Counsel Is Cooperating Extensively In Russia Probe:

So anything to think that McGahn was going to become cheeto's "John Dean?

It says in the article that:
"McGahn began to fear that Trump was setting him up to take the blame for any possible obstruction charges, according to the Times. And so he started talking more ― to protect himself."

McGahn does not serve trump, but he serves the Office of the President

And the NYT stating that McGahn has cooperated with Mueller.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/18/us/politics/don-mcgahn-mueller-investigation.html

ok, here's the cheeto meltdown on the NYT article:

I wouldn’t read too much into it. He’s covering his ass so he cant be hung out to dry on any obstruction. The WH lawyer under Nixon did the same thing.

He filled in the blanks on a few things but also said he didn’t see anything that would rise to the level of inappropriate reportedly.

Yup, he took Trumps willingness to let him testify as a sign he was getting set up as a fall-guy. So let's see, his personal "fixer" with who knows how many bodies is now the enemy, his apprentice sweetheart is stabbing in the back with a machete, Stormy Daniels has 2 lawsuits pending, he's been tweeting more incriminating crap on Twitter than one can keep track of, he fired Comey then told Lester Holt it was "the Russia thing", and now his attempt to fire Mueller has been exposed. Stick a fork in this moron, he's done.

Someone please simplify this for me.
Is what’s implied here due to the fact that the White House Counsel working with Mueller to say his own ass?

Why would McGahn merely speaking the truth as he knows it harm Trump?

Silly me. We already know the answer. No collusion! No obstruction! Witch hunt! Fake news! Revoke their security clearances! Steele dossier! Crooked Hillary! Lock her up! Drain the swamp! Deep State! Trust only POTUS!

I think the big takeaway is that Trump's personal lawyers probably have no idea what was or wasn't discussed with that volume of discussion between Mueller and McGahn. The timing, content and overall intent of this article is weird. I can't tell if it's an intentional leak on the Trump side to give them some cover of transparency. Or if it came out of another direction as a signal that there's a lot of info that has been discussed with Mueller they may not be aware of. Or if it's from another direction yet of an anti-Trump bend meant to incite him about McGahn and get under his skin.

It's a lot to digest with a lot of impact but unknown intent.

All I know is that the President is anxious for the truth to come out and must be chomping at the bit to testify himself.

It’s hard to know what it means exactly but I think it’s safe to say that if the White House Counsel thinks he needs to come clean with the special counsel so he doesn’t end up in jail like Nixon’s WHC it’s not a great sign for Trump.

At this point it seems the primary motivating factor for most of this administration is just staying out of prison.

Eerily similar to John Dean. Go back and look at that history

I'm unclear as to who approached whom. The WHC represents the Office, not the President and so Mueller requesting an interview and Counsel cooperating seems like something that should naturally happen. If the situation were reversed and a visit with Mueller was requested then that would seem more problematic for Trump because the WHC feels the need to get some things on record.

Do you not find comfort in the fact that the investigation continues and Mueller will have the opportunity to present his case? Trump may be looking to undermine the investigation or control the narrative, but he cannot stop the process.

I'm counting on it.
