Are you watching on an LCD? If so, it's probably most of the problem - either the picture is interpolated to get up to the native resolution, or the resolution is changed to something lower when you change to full screen. I don't have WMC, but I do have a tuner card in my computer. Have for a long time, and you're right - at full screen, the quality is lousy.

the cable signal is significantly lower resolution than your computer monitor. it looks decent on a tv because the pixels are fuzzy and you are far away. the computer monitor is nearly 2~4 as much resolution and has sharp pixels. SDTV (standard definition TV) always look fuzzy on a computermonitor. the only way you can get very good resolution is with a HDTV card and HDTV over the air feed. you'd want to check if theres any stations in your area before you buy a card.

if you hook your computer up to a TV again you might be able to get the same feeling back.

SDTV sucks. Try PureVideo as you decoder, it's the best, you can at least rule out your decoder.

Yeah on my new 20" DELL LCD, So for example if I record an episode then burn it to a DVD then put it in my DVD player then watch it on my TV will it look good, like when it was originally shown on TV. And if not then how do people get awesome rips of TV shows that have not been released on DVD yet?

The recordings should look OK on a regular TV, as long as you're using an adaquate bit rate and the color, hue, saturation, etc. were set correctly.

1. I use beyond TV and was jsut watching 'without a trace' on CBS on my 2001fp. This is using analog cable.

Let me tell you, suing digital cable helps a LOT. It reduces the noise so much so that many times it looks twice as good.

In the end it really depends on what decoder you are using (nvidias is constantly ranked as the best or at least as one of the best) and the quality of your input.

Stupid Question here: Will an (ATI) All in Wonder (rage ii C) or All in Wonder Pro (Rage Pro) work in XP, I have both in PCI versions and all I have is non-digital TV do you think either would work?

Why wouldn't they?

Sure. They will jsut be a video input for the PC to use. That aid, the quality will probably suck, and they wont have hardware mpeg2 encoding:(
