On a regular basis I hear this:

"....um yeah but as a Ford guy...."
"....I'm a Chevy guy myself....bla...bla.."
"... as a Mopar guy......"

What's up with this? Looks like these people like a car just because it's a Ford, Chevy, Mopar, whatever.... They don't like any other make.

Chevy, Ford, and MOPAR fans admit thier bias straight out. They stick with what they know, and if they know all about Chevys, they stick with Chevys. They'll rib the other manufacturer, but when the other guys put out something great, they will acknowledge it, and when thier manufactuer puts out a steaming pile, they'll acknowledge it too. It's a matured level of fanboyism.

My brother in law is an example of this, he's such a die hard Chevy fan that he has an emblem tattooed on his calf. But he doesn't like the way the Chevy truck's frame hangs down, and doesn't like the Duramax's aluminum heads (major diesel no-no). He drives a Dodge Ram.

Most of the import and european crowd hasn't gotten there. They'll blindly back thier manufacturer even in the face of failure while refusing to admit that they have a bias at all. Nissan fanboys are the worst. Jaguars have started to turn since Ford bought them.

Thank you for explaining this phenomena.

its all about their knowledge of cars. Most people focus on one particular type of car. Either they were taught that when they were growing up or they learned themselves the ins and outs of a certain make

Nah, if I had money I'd have a classic Chevy for the weekends. Just wouldn't want to have one as a daily driver.
