so airborne delivered an extra package today

i got my camera today, w00t! now i'm only charging the battery but the airborne guy gave me an extra package. i was like... uh why am i getting two packages.

anyway, it's a package from outpost for my neighbor down the street. this is not the first time airborne has delivered his stuff to my place but boy he has an attitude. I brought it to his house last time and he was like, uh ok thanks.

now should i call airborne up and tell them that they delivered a package that's not mine or should i just give it to him? I want zero liability, since i signed for the packages (i didn't know that wasn't mine until he left).

UPDATE: airborne guy came back and got the package 😛

Open it 😛 If it's anything worth keeping, take that and put some old Simm ram sticks in the package, then run over to your neighboors house around 2am and leave the package at his front door (sealed up, of course) 😉

If it's not worth keeping, just slam it on the ground, then maybe step on it, and leave it at his front door without knocking, or call the shipping place and tell them they delievered something broken to the wrong house. 😉

Eh, it's probably easier to walk the package to your neighbor and explain that Airborne mistakenly delivered it to you.

But hey, if you want zero liability, call Airborne, tell them about the mistake, and insist that they come pick it up and deliver it three doors down from you.

FedEx delivered a package to me which belonged to someone a couple blocks away. The house number was the same, but the street name only looked similar.

Looked important too... next day air. Well they surely didn't get it "next day"... they got it the day after it was delivered to me. I drove it over the next morning (on the way to work anyway) and rang the bell... nobody was home so I left it on the porch. I could've done it the same night I got it, if I had only noticed it was that urgent.

Either way, I felt like I went beyond the call of duty by driving it over to them instead of getting FedEx's guy back here for it. I even looked up Mappoint to see where the address was. If I had gotten any $#!T from the recipient, I would've flipped him the bird.

Just leave it at his door. Don't knock or anything.

I wouldn't do that. If it comes up missing and you signed for it, then you are screwed.

Either go talk to him face to face or call Airborne and have them redeliver it.

the problem is it says 2nd day service and signature required. i'm just gonna call airborne and tell them to pick it up. Since I signed for the package already, does that mean i'm liable for it? I mean, assuming it gets stolen if i leave it at his door, would it be my fault?

im so tempted to open it... it might be a HDD from outpost i can use but nooo :/

It seems to me that Airborne would be liable, since the signature on file is NOT from the addressee. Just my $0.02.

Hmmm. I'd say you're doing nothing wrong and everything right if you bring it to your neighbor. After all,

If he's all pissy about it toward you this time, fsck him, he's probably just an asshole. Then next time it happens, call Airborne and have them deal with it (tell Airborne to come back and pick it up).

If that fails I think you should just hold on to the package until your neighbor comes for it. There is no point for you being the nice guy in this situation.

does he know your name, cause surely the delivery notice will have his address on it?

if so how will anyone know that you have it?

call him or leave a note on his door explaining that he can pick up his package at ur house..then answer the door nude with vaseline in one hand and lotion all over the other hand and his package..just dont let him know its just white lotion let him draw his own conclusions
