Fox news:
The oh so important debate about Obama's sentence-de-jour that will be detrimental to his campaign. Cue in a guest that agrees 100% with the bimbo news anchor and spend 5 mins dropping identical arguments/talking points on each other. Next up: Osama's associate to be released from jail in europe... free man... terrorists... our freedom. Bimbo is putting down Academy Award worthy performance of how we're supposed to take this news (OMGZ BE SCARED!);

Can't take it anymore, CNN HN
Non-stop coverage of teeny boppers beating the shit out of each other on you tube. Phew, I'm glad they didn't miss this ever-important news piece that will forever impact the way we live.

Click, MSNBC
Illegal immigration and taxes. Guy 1 argument: They're hard working people, only looking for their american dream. Guy 2 argument: They don't respect any laws since they didn't respect the immigration, which makes them selfish. Guy 1 response: Selfish? They are only here to support their families...blah blah
It's amazing how you can boil a complex socioeconomic issue down to "They can stay since they're hard working" or "They must go since they don't follow laws".

Back to CNN
Highschool cheerleaders' you tube....aAAAAHHHHHH

How can people take this garbage in strides? I wasted 30 minutes watching the so-called news coverage, gained absolutely nothing and arguably lost IQ points. Bah...

I hate the news so much.

1. Report on stuff that doesn't matter, like the lives of celebrities.

2. When they do report on stuff that matters, the views are either black/white polarized and all the factors are dumbed down or omitted to the point of retardation.

Yeah, i used to watch it sometimes, but its total crap. HOWEVER it is still usefull at times, but only when something is actually going on. If there is a big news story going on then they cover it very well from lots of angles and all, but on just a "normal day" they revert to all those shitty "news" stories about random blonde chicks, or videos or YouTube, or just beating the same point to death a million times (for example taking some random sentace Obama or Hillary says and making it out to be the bigest deal in the world like theres all these underlying meanings and such)

You've got to choose which shows you watch. Some are better than others, then again some focus on different subjects - news v. politics v. crime v. "tempest of the day".

There are some good shows.

I tried watching CNN after a 8 year self-imposed timeout, and ended up tuning in to a Nancy Grace segment. :(

Oh man, she really needs her own channel: 24-7 coverage of white girls missing places

Yup.

Fox News = Obvious built in Political Bias + brainless pursuit of nonsense
CNN = brainless pursuit of nonsense
CNBC = Haven't really watched, but suspect it's not much different than CNN

If you want News in the US all you really have is PBS on TV. If you get BBC it's good for International News, but doesn't supply enough Domestic News to keep one informed. Local News only covers Crimes, Fires, Accidents, Sports, and Weather. Shows like 60 Minutes will provide some worthy News, but their items should be what the Local and National News programs provide on a daily basis.

sandorski, you hit it pretty much on the head on Fox News and CNN, but give MSNBC a try-they have some shows that are decent (Joe in the Morning-or whatever it is called, Keith Obermann-on occassion, Hard Ball. Verdict is useless and please, please someone have MSNBC pull the plug on all the prison/child molestor "documentaries" they run).

The biggest disappointment to me is how much CNN has gone downhill in just the last year or two. They used to be relatively solid, if boring. Now they fixate on one news story-most recently the cheerleader thing, before that the Texas temple raid, and when nothing is happening in the news, immigration and the "war on the middle class."

I stopped watching the news CBS/NBC never did watch fox, now I avoid CNN ... I'll occasionally hit up BBC, but my news of choice is the china channel (galaxy 5) ... Ya I know what you are thinking but the china channel even if they got it wrong ... They are not afraid of law suits or the bush admin locking them up... Maybe they might water down what's going on in china but they won't do it for USA and other news... Yep double edge sword...

Hers must indeed be a very subjective talent, dependent in large part on the Perils of Pauline (or whoever the current missing white girl is).

I actually preferred the old, boring repetitive "news cycle" to the current CNN Headline Prime Time lineup.

I can't stand going over to my in-laws house because my father in law plays CNN non stop.

cable news networks have seriously contributed to the dumbing down of society. Those fvckers should report ON THAT!

I expect anti-Muslim propaganda when I tune into Fox :p

Keith Olbermann is about the only thing I can watch on cable news that won't make me vomit regardless of what he's talking about. Some of the shit on MSNBC can get kind of stupid and way too liberal, but for the most part, it's alright.

The international channels are much better (although they repeat stories too much each hour, considering how much is going on in the world). If you can't get CNN international I've found that BBC international is more or less interchangeable with it, and I'm pretty sure that airs all over the country on PBS.

I've found that The Daily Show and Colbert Report offer better critical analysis of the news than the "news" outlets do.

But I've not had CNN, Comedy Central, or any of the "extended" programming since August - I'm on basic cable, so the best I get is Discovery Channel, which isn't all that great itself anymore. Mythbusters, How It's Made, and Dirty Jobs are about the only things on it that I watch. Their Extreme Engineering shows have interesting topics, but the execution is irritating. It's always got bad electric guitar music, and the narrator has the whole calm-yet-"EXTREEEEEME" attitude thing going, to try to make it sound like "Extreme" engineering. Anything for ratings.

This is what the unwashed masses want. They want to feel enraged and they want to feel enraged for reasons given to them with arguments given to them because they are stoo ignorant/lazy to come up with their own.

Jeff7, you forgot "Modern Marvels" the best of the bunch on History/Discovery (even though there are very few of them and get repeated ad nauseum).

"Hows It Made" can take interesting things you never thought of before and make them incredibly boring. Probably has something to do with the background industrial film/porno film nonstop elevator music.

I quit watching the news a long, long time ago. I don't need opinion spoon fed to me from a corporate baby jar.
