Last Halloween my wife, sister-in-law and a friend were involved in a car accident.
The wife and other two were traveling from our home (in town on the out skirts) to take my sister-in-law back to her dorm room. It was 11:30 at night, driving down a narrow road with a 45 m.p.h. speed limit with 1/2 mile to 3/4 mile range of sight on the road.
As she was driving down the road a van full of teenagers driving at a high rate of speed sped around my wife...attempted to pass...lost control and flipped the van in front of her (think of a 2 fast 2 furious maneuver here where they drifted AROUND my wife's car not hitting it but drifting around it).
The driver over corrected and went into the ditch...hit a pole and flipped it end over end (front to back)
There were 7 kids in the van and 3 were ejected, one seriously hurt...no one was wearing seat belts
Nothing happened as a result of the accident, my wife gave a statement and we had no further contact with anyone.
Fast forward today...this guy shows up at my house asking to interview my wife because the three injured teens are suing the drive of the van.
The change the original story they gave (originally saying it was my wife who caused the accident to saying the teen driver was driving too fast).
The driver says it was my wife who swerved in front of her and caused her to crash.
Nothing is official (so this guy claims) but the three parties the one seriously injured kid and the two others couldn't come to terms of an agreement for a settlement so he says our insurance company is probably going to get sued and he wants to get the facts straight and interview my wife, sister-in-law and her friend so when my wife supposedly gets requested to be at a deposition hearing by this girls insurance company he will have 'the real story' by his words.
Wife is out of town for the week and I told him I would be contacting my insurance to alert them...to which he tells me they won't do as good as job as he would at 'telling her story' to back her claims up.
Since I haven't talked to our insurance company yet I am going to assume that this guy is just trying to cover his clients ass and wants to get to us first to watch out for his company.
It is not a required thing to meet with him...but it kind of freaked me out a little none the less to have some guy showing up at the door!
