I find some enjoyment in seeing people who measure their success in life by how much money they can throw away on their car.
Yea I do too. Why do people spend thousands and thousands of dollars restoring an old muscle car? Or how about that someone who spends all that money fixing up their car or truck so they can go autocrossing, off-roading, or racing on the weekends?
I've never met a racer who counts how much money he or she has spent on his/her racecar. Matter of fact, most racers actively try not to think about the costs because they know it's killing them financially. For a track racer, hitting that downshift going into a decreasing-radius corner or being able to wait that last split second before braking are what make life worth living. Most don't give two sh*ts about how the car looks, they just care about how it handles. The racing cars I've seen are among the dirtiest cars on the planet, exhaust stains near the tailpipe, chipped paint, dirty fenders bent back into shape hurridly for the next race... Racers don't measure their life by how much money they throw into the car.

I'm also willing to bet that if I tried toying with a vette or some car a lot faster than mine he or she wouldn't hesitate to show me my place.
Don't flatter yourself. You're not worth their time.
