2. Divorce has and never will leave both parties amicable with a clean break. You will be dealing with her in some form (social connections, old finances, etc) til the day you die.

that's exactly it. They should not be calling here.
They ask usually the last time I have seen her, does she have any friends/family that would know where she is, what was her last job, etc.
So much room for the stories.
To the guy that told me to grow up...I know a few divorcees that still hang out and kids are not involved. They just knew themselves to be better friends.
My divorce was not a war until she found out I would not continue supporting her or paying her bills.

Before you start calling me names (did you graduate from elementary school?), maybe check out the definition of both 'story' and 'gossip.' Plenty of room for interpretation that you were implying lies.

The gossip is gossip, not because it's a lie, but because I cannot verify it...however; based on our past...I have no reason to doubt it.

Fortunately, I DON'T have any issue similar to that, (been married to the same one for 31 yrs) but IMO, you'd do here more harm by giving them the info they seek, IF you actually know it...but if you don't, then spreading gossip is the next best thing!

I have no idea, her sister the last time we were speaking didn't know either (around the time of maybe 4-5 years after our divorce), her friends all came to me looking for her.
It's wierd she dropped off the map, but she started alot of wierd and bad stuff rolling that she never experienced and I had warned her about.
The best stunt she pulled was see me at college and think I was stalking her...had her b/f call a job I no longer worked at. The funny part was using the dial by name there was an older man with my same exact name and middle initial.
I don't know exactly how he threatened him, but one of my friends there called to tell me about SWAT showing up to escort him off premises and search around the building/parking garage.
As far as I'm concerned, debt collectors aren't human and so any normal social, truth, morality etc considerations don't apply. Go ahead and play with them.
The ones that try and collect debt after 9 years are the scum of the earth. Remember that there is a statute of limitations on debt - normally 7 years - so what they are doing is probably illegal as heck.

This is the messed up part. These debts are more than likely new...it's possible they could be some of the older ones, but those were mostly just her school loans and a bit of mine. In return, I had taken on the rest of our debt during the divorce (close to $6 figures with the loss I was forced into to sell our house to her cousin, she would not sign a contract otherwise and I am sure cash was exchanged on the back end).
My phone number has changed since then about 6 times now. These people are looking me up through phone records and a few times her or her family had given them my number.

Oh yeah, I also suffer satan syndrome, though in different ways usually. Then again I also still get calls and mail for my mother, who died 16 years ago. Nothing pleases me more than feigning an emotional breakdown when people call and bug me...

I figure maybe some of the callers will decide it isn't worth it for minimum wage and move on to actual professions. If nothing else it makes me feel better.
I'd really love for any form of unsolicited contact to result in felony convictions. Well, not any form, I understand political surveys, notices from the city about relevant stuff, even just debt collections, etc. Just anything that has to do with advertising or marketing. If the goal is to make a business money it should be 25yrs and 250,000 for contacting anyone in any way (mail, phone, email, whatever) unless they specifcially request it - and records of such a request (signed and verified) should be required to allow it.
In the case of divorce contacts, I guess I can see the validity in a company contacting you once. After you explain the situation though that should be it. Any further contacts are simply out of line. Personally I just give them all her current contact info, and if they're really nice anything that might help them destroy her; you know, social security number, her employer, bank name and account numbers if I happen to have a recent check from her, that kind of thing. It's the least I can do to repay her for all she's done. :evil:
