Always debt collectors and always the same story....her father doesn't answer the phone (her last 'known' phone number). So they go looking into marriage records and find me, but fail to see our divorce in 1997.
I love giving them stories/gossip on her though 🙂

Could be fun if you play it right. I always enjoy telemarketers.

that's exactly it. They should not be calling here.
They ask usually the last time I have seen her, does she have any friends/family that would know where she is, what was her last job, etc.
So much room for the stories.
To the guy that told me to grow up...I know a few divorcees that still hang out and kids are not involved. They just knew themselves to be better friends.
My divorce was not a war until she found out I would not continue supporting her or paying her bills.

So spreading lies about her is definitely an appropriate and mature response to her selfishness. Got it.

never said I was lying idiot.
Gossip: idle talk or rumor, esp. about the personal or private affairs of others: the endless gossip about Hollywood stars.
Rumor: a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts: a rumor of war.
Story: 1. a narrative, either true or fictitious, in prose or verse, designed to interest, amuse, or instruct the hearer or reader; tale.
2. a fictitious tale, shorter and less elaborate than a novel.

Fortunately, I DON'T have any issue similar to that, (been married to the same one for 31 yrs) but IMO, you'd do here more harm by giving them the info they seek, IF you actually know it...but if you don't, then spreading gossip is the next best thing!

Before you start calling me names (did you graduate from elementary school?), maybe check out the definition of both 'story' and 'gossip.' Plenty of room for interpretation that you were implying lies.

2. Divorce has and never will leave both parties amicable with a clean break. You will be dealing with her in some form (social connections, old finances, etc) til the day you die.

As far as I'm concerned, debt collectors aren't human and so any normal social, truth, morality etc considerations don't apply. Go ahead and play with them.
The ones that try and collect debt after 9 years are the scum of the earth. Remember that there is a statute of limitations on debt - normally 7 years - so what they are doing is probably illegal as heck.
Hmmm, so you got to keep the phone number after the divorce? She should have gotten a better lawyer.
Just kidding.
