A 20-year-old Salisbury Township man died Saturday afternoon when the snowmobile he was operating hit a horse-drawn buggy, state police at Lancaster reported.
Jeffrey Wayne Stoltzfus was headed northbound on Spring Garden Road in the township around 3:30 p.m., with an unnamed 14-year-old Salisbury Township boy as a passenger. South of Denlinger Road, the Arctic Cat hit the left front of a southbound buggy, police said.
Both snowmobilers were ejected from the vehicle, which came to rest on the west side of the road, more than 225 feet from the scene of the impact.
An unnamed 16-year-old Parkesburg boy was driving the buggy, accompanied by passenger Leon Jay Stoltzfus, 18, also of Parkesburg, police said. Neither was injured.
Those Amish make a mighty sturdy buggy.
