Was supposed to have relatives fly into JFK from Canada today - their flight got cancelled because JFK decided not to take anyone after 1pm... they can't get here till Monday night now. Thus postponed a 30-person dinner Saturday, and cost my brother $200 in flight-change fees since he's now got to stay for the make-up dinner on Tuesday (originally leaving Monday). What a fricken perfect day for it to start snowing... we had been planning this for months. Yeah, we're snowed-in.

I'm a little too tired to check, but I'd imagine if you looked up the word 'fun' in a dictionary one of the entries would be 'owning a house in Connecticut in the winter...'

Yes!

My friend is throwing a big party in NYC tonight but I can't even move out of my parking space in my RWD G35. I tried my SUV and made it only a few blocks before giving up. Its just not worth it.

I'm doing better than my friends though. They were supposed to fly back from Puerto Rico tonight but Newark Airport closed so they got redirected to Syracuse. They were then rerouted to Detroit because Syracuse cannot accomodate 757s and are stuck again because there are no pilots available. Sucks for them.

Unfortunately, yes. It was 80F two days ago and now we're snowed in. Wonderful.

We've had sleet all day. We've probably gotten about 2" accumulation of sleet.

It wasn't so much the ice and slickness as it was the freezing rain and ice pellets instantly freezing on the windshield. When I went to chip off some of the ice from the wipers, it would bend and distort the rubber.
Needless to say, seeing a 2 inch strip of icy haze directly in front of my eyes from the wipers not making direct contact...:disgust::|

Erie, PA doesn't know the meaning of that phrase.
Plus, I wasn't really planning on going anywhere anyway.
