I've gone snowboarding quite a few times now yet i've never gotten my own board so i think around march when sales roll around I'm going to get a set.

I'm really interested in the Arbor Element ALT. My friend has the Push, the girl version and really likes it. ANyone know anything about either one? As far as sizing goes i figure 155 since im 5'10 155-160lbs

I also want some bindings/boot suggestions. I'm thinking flow bindings but i dont wnat to spend more than 100. as far as boots go i have no idea

I'm shorter than you and about 140-145lbs and I'm using a 156 board, works really well for me.
I second the flow bindings, for boots I think you'll really have to try them out yourself, although I do like the salomon boots :)

First suggestion, go on ebay and get a low end set up. If this is your first board BUY USED!!! You will knock off around 50% of the cost and as a beginner you will notice no difference.

As far as board suggestions, I am probably the biggest burton fanboy on AT so that is what I suggest you get.

I took the liberty of looking it up on ebay for you, it shouldn't be hard to adjust it for any brand you want.

Low end burton boards are the bullet (for wide foot) or the clash (good up until boot size 10 or 11)

You should be able to get a used board with bindings for around $150 - 200

Burton Boards with bindings

As far as boots go, try them in a board shop, make sure to find the perfect ones, then buy them online.

ill look into it. i think im good enough that i can step it up from the raelly newb stuff. im hoping whatever board i get lasts forawhile so im looking at better boards. the reason i haven't gotten my own board is that i go to school in NC and live in WA so i did'nt want to purchase my own board and use it only half the time or deal with shipping it bakc and forth.

spend more money on your first pair of boots than on your first board; you'll have them for longer than you'll have your first board - they won't get used up in the park :p

You don't have to wait until March. I just picked up some Rossignol Scratch Sprayer FS' (2006) with Axium 200 bindings for $200CAN at Comor here in Vancouver regular $550 w/o bindings.

I've got a few year old arbor board and absolutely love it. It gets looks like no other board and rides very very nicely, If i remember right it's a 163 wide, but i may be wrong.

I've also got flow bindings, and while many people prefer the traditional straps, I love the flows, just make sure your feet aren't too large otherwise they might be more difficult to strap in over your boots. I know it's tough to get them over my 12.5 vans the first time, but after that it's fine.

I'm actually trying to sell my board and bindings for a cheap price if you're interested in a board to just get you started. Both in great condition but the board has some gouges and normal wear and tear.
