Snowboarding is fun

I went snowboarding for the past 2 days and I gotta say I LOVED IT. I used to just kinda go meh when people went skiing and I would just kinda tag along. I struggled and just tried to survive.

Then I never went back for years until last year. I struggled with boarding as it was my first time, and I think I left with only very little skill gained. I went back again and then I was a lot better, finally being able to steer somewhat and not fall. I went back again this past weekend and wow, it was totally different. I was hitting up the blue trails this time, and while I still do fall here and there, I feel like I'm doing infinitely many times better than before.

Anyways, so I'm thinking I should start buying stuff as I'm almost certain I'll be back on the snow at least once more this season, and definitely MANY MANY times next season.

Buying a board is a huge jump, and I'm sure preferences can change over time with skill. So I'm figuring I should start with boots... any tips? If you got tips for boards, let me know too, since if there's something worth buying out there I might just jump into it.

Since its so late in the season I wouldnt buy anything since like you said you'd only use it 1 or 2 times before it sits there all summer. Just wait until the have all the end of season sales to get stuff cheap, or at least cheaper 🙂

Of course. There are already a lot of sales though like a 50% off Sierra Snowboard and what not. I'm definitely waiting for sales, but it seems some have started, so I'm just looking for pointers on what to buy and so when I see a good price, maybe I'll snatch it up.

i think boots are the number one most important thing when it comes to snowboarding.

my advice: go to a specialty shop and actually try a few of them. buy whichever gives you the most comfort. or buy the same boots if you find the exact same boots online for cheaper price.

and since you're a novice, butt protection/helmet, etc does wonders.

Probably the best things to start out with imo are goggles, pants, gloves.

You should buy boots with your board, because if you're not buying a board, you'd be renting -- which comes with boots.

Buying a board eventually pays for itself and is a big difference in terms of quality compared to rentals.
