first of all, i wouldn't suggest you get a board according to the "measure to your chin" method. 120-125lb at 5'11"? you're pretty skinny. for your weight, i would recommend something in the mid 140 cm. if you are beginner, i would recommend just getting a cheap decent board at first. as for binding and boots, get something that's nice and comfortable. you can always reuse them on your new board once you outgrow your newbie board. it's ok to get a used board, but i highly recommend new boots and binding.

Used boards can make a lot of sense, but don't be afraid to keep renting board if you really aren't sure what to settle on.

Burton makes good boards for their higher-end line, but closer to average on their lower-end stuff. But it's Burton, so you rarely can go wrong. I would avoid Forum boards because they do not seem to last at all.

yea i am very skinny....my friends call me fat a$$ becuase i eat so much food and gain no weight =0 suuucckkksss

(i swear high colestoral will kill me by 20 something the way i eat)

yea i was looking into that but does it matter specifically what type i should by used? (for beginer stuff)

and what would u guys suggest as nice bindings and boots.....ive heard the step ins are easy but provide less control.....id prefer something with better control than ease....of getting in and out

I'd probably look into a used board but make sure its in very good condition. I bought a Division 23 149cm from my friend for $80 and it's in very nice condition after he had it for 3 years. It'll last my a couple years, which is very nice considering it was so cheap.

Since your a beginner, I wouldn't recommend something expensive like a Burton, K2, Forum, etc... unless you can find a good cheap used one. I'd look into some name brands, just not as "good" (I put quotes around it because I doubt you'd notice any difference), such as Division 23, Lamar, Avalanche, Option. They're not cheapies like Walmart boards but they should be great for a couple years while you get better.

I'd go with straps. I don't really see a need for step-ins. It only takes a few seconds to bind one foot in after you get off the lift. Oh wait, step-ins are very nice if you're hiking a single jump or rail. I don't know abotu boots. My first and current boots are the cheapest boots they had at the shop, which happened to be these alright Burton ones. Just try one some and make sure they got good padding and don't skimp on the boots or your feet will hurt a ton.

You are skinny! I'm 125-130lb, 5'7" and I'm skinny. I ride a 149cm. My first board was a 144cm but it was getting kinda crappy. I'd get a 145-150cm if I were you.

And DON'T GET ANY DAMN SKIS. :)

The longer the board, the faster you go. Just keep that in mind. Lamar is alright for beginners, but make sure your boots are comfortable. I can't stress that enough. Whether you'll enjoy snowboarding or not will depend so much on that. Like I said in my first post, go with mid 140's cm (145-148cm) If it's too short, it may screw up your balance.

If you're gonna get skis I'm not gonna help you anymore. :D j/k

Lamar is okay. My friend has one and I rode it a few times, it's fine. Not any better or worse than my Div23, just was a bit bigger. I think a 140 would be too small. It'd work, but if you happened to gain some weight in the next year or whatever then it'd be even worse. When I had my 144, I rode my brothers K2 155cm a few times and I rode it fine. That was when I first started too. If you're gonna be doing freestyle then you're gonna wanna have a little smaller board because it's easier to rotate, and easier to control on rails IMO.

But yah a longer board will be a little faster, but nothing drastic. Weight effects speed to.. Some of my friends have around the same size board as me but they just pass me up cause they're heavier.
