So I went snowboarding about 10 times last year renting/borrowing gear and want to buy my own for this year. I could in most cases tell a difference between the gear I was using, but I wasn't good enough to know what that difference was... I'm not into the back country
I live in salt lake with like 15 resorts within an hour and plan on going i'd say 30-40 times this year(barring injury). I have around $450 to spend on board + boots + bindings. How would you divvy that amount up between the 3? I looked at burton clash and rossignol RS boards today which were about $260-280. Also looked at a ride catalyst which was $170. the sales lady referred to the RS & clash as having "stacked" edges and that this was good, especially for terrain parks and stuff. Looking at the various snowboard company websites, there is nothing there that seems to reflect whether or not the board has this, unless I just don't know the right terminology? Boards like the ride had the fiberglass rolled over the edge to meet the bottom.
What are the major technological features that add cost to the boards?
Are there any discount online stores? its hard for me to believe a piece of fiberglassed wood costs $300. somebody has to sell them near cost, like computer parts.
anyways, what are your recommendations?
