Snow tires

I just got some Kumho's from the tire rack and they work fine.
But I am not a tire expert.

Me too.

Incidentall, I drove by the Indiana operations for Tire Rack and it was huge.

Fair price and owning the most are oxymorons when it comes to winter tires. Just even mentioning the words winter tire costs you a week's pay. I've heard good things about the blizzak, but they are not exactly cheap.

I use Blizzaks on my Trans Am and it is a night and day difference. Whole different car in the snow with them on.

I have a dedicated winter set for the Mustang, and it is indeed a night and day difference in the snow. I live in NH, and I drive the car year round in these NE winters.

IMO, the Blizzak WS-50 is the best winter tire...hands down.

Blizzaks have been overshadowed by numerous other tires at this point. They are still a good bet, but way too overprices for the crap dry road handling and extremely quick treadwear.

I loved my set of Nokian Hakka 1's but they are out of production now and hard to find. The other offerings from Nokian are some of the best snow tires out there.
I used a car that had a set of Michelin Artic Alpins on it. Thoes worked very well too, but were not the best in deep snow.

Currently I have a set of Green Diamonds on. THey are a newer company out of iceland that has this patent on putting chunks of carbide in the rubber. I Havn't had any true winter driving with them yet, but they were better on the dry pavement than most snow tires I've run.

Nokian tires are incredible, but at nearly $175 each, they are very practical. I put the Kumho's from Tirerack on my Crown Vic, and they have been excellent. I have good all-seasons for the non-snowy months, but they don't compare to a set of snow tires.
