Buy an SUV. We all know that an SUV is the best tool for getting through the white stuff...

I witnessed this snow phenomenon a few weeks ago. I have never driven in ice, let alone snow. I stayed in my apartment with my heater and my stash of provisions, since (thankfully) it was the weekend. I hope it does not come back anytime soon.

Actually, I can live with those afraid of driving in the snow better than the idiots in trucks who accelerate to 50 mph given 5 feet of clear road. Oh yeah, the idiot driver's usually do this in a residential area.

I don't drive to school on really snowy days because I am scared of all the bad drivers.

I hear stories like "My windshield was frozen but I was late so I opened the window and looked out and almost crashed"

It's generally suburban wankers in a SUV that think they're on tracks when they engage 4WD. Nothing makes me happier then seeing those asshats in a ditch... Actually, I take that back. I saw one on it's roof in the road during a snow once. That was the best :^)

This is exactly what I'm talking about. People think that snow equals "OMFG ADVERSE WEATHER! EVASIVE TACTICS!!!11!!one".

It's not that hard people. Snow doesn't mean you have to be an idiot, just more careful and more attentive.

It seems like people forget how to drive in the snow every year, and have to learn all over again. It's annoying and scary as hell sometimes.

I hate people who are rediculously scared of winter driving, but I also hate the ones that don't even notice the snow and drive as if it was slick pavement in a nice summer day. While you still have to use caution, don't overdo it either.

I had a guy pass me like a maniac the other day in a school zone then get back in my lane cutting me off and passing the other guy. A school zone is not a nascar track. I was already going 10 over and that guy was STILL urging to pass me. When I see someone do a stupid move like that I always hope they spin out of control and land their car right in a snow bank with all 4 tires hanging. I would just stick my tongue out and keep going at my safe speed. Well I don't know if 10 over the speed limit is considered, safe. :p

Doesnt snow here but the same goes for the rain.

If you are afraid to drive in the rain then stay the fuck off the roads. Out here people turn into complete retards when it rains.

Where are you?
Most of the snow is gone now. Stock up soon. The real winter is right around the corner.

It's gotten terrible. People forget how to drive in the rain. It doesn't even have to be raining. If it looks like it'll rain in the next few hours, everybody's driving goes to hell. I swear it wasn't this bad years ago when I started driving. Maybe I'm just getting more irritable, and I notice it more :^/

There are two times each year that you can count on absolute chaos on the roads here. Easily the most entertaining is the first snow. There's got to be a master reset switch somewhere that makes people forget how to drive in the winter around here. When spring rolls around and we get our first rain after 6 months, calamity ensues once more. It's this crap that makes me glad I don't drive!

I slid through a stop sign with black ice. I drive with Michelin HydroEdges which are decent in some light snow. I don't live in snowy areas, but Tahoe is usually VERY well plowed. It was NOT a snow weekend. I guess there was some residual ice at the intersection and I slid right through. Good thing no other car was there.
