I bought a nikon coolpix 2500 a while back and haven't shot much of anything with it. It snowed some yesterday and I went out and snapped some pictures and wanted to get your opinions on them. If you've taken some too post them, I've always liked pictures with snow :) I like the camera, although I'm still having a hard time with not having any manual controls

This is picture number one. Its my favorite, but is it really all that neat, or just "fatherly love" ;)?

Number two Its not as sharp as I would like but I liked the cafe, and the look of the place to the left of it (particularly its sign)

Picture three I don't particuarly care for this picture because I don't feel like it has a clear subject, but I do like the lights overhead. I'm thinking the lights have potential in another picture, but this one stinks, what do you think?

Four.A I kind of like the bench up against the pole, but I'm still not sold on this shot. Maybe it needs some cropping?

Four.B Same shot, in B&W. Any different?

Let me know what you think could be improved and what you like in the shots and post some of your own :)

Coolpix2500 has a very poor focus system. But the pictures are lovely :) Could have been a lot better with coolpix 4300 or 5700
And i personally like the third picture. The bench sitting alone in the middle of the snow in my opinion is a great subject

Yeah I bought the 2500 because of budget and thought its compact size would be good for carrying. There is some barrel distortion at its widest setting that gets annoying. The focusing system does pretty good for a cheap point and shoot. Its kind of forgiving as far as contrast goes for the autofocus, but it has to be pretty bright. For its class I can't fault it too much :) I am considering selling it though and getting a 995 or a 4300 and seeing how that works.

Now you're making me miss my old hometown in upstate NY :( Moved to NC a few years ago where there's absolutely no snow. Well, at least one more year and I'll be moving back up there.

I like the B&W picture too, BTW :)
