I'm thinking I might try ice with different colour layers using food colouring.

Think the middle melts last since snow is a good insulator, so it melts from the outside. Once there is water then it melts from below since water conducts heat better as the water warms up to above freezing.

LEDs would be neat, might have to play around with that. Can probably make them change very slowly with arduino or something.

I would say ... zoom in closer to the action ... reposition lighting or add more.
Tinkly music was fitting, maybe lower the volume.
Shorter glass would allow a closer zoom without cutting off part of it.
Maybe set it on a lighted base - a bottle glorifier, and maybe set it on a windowsill for daylight backlighting.

That's all my ideas.

Don't have time to watch other people's snow melt.

Or their ice circles spin, for that matter.
Thank God for time lapse.
Whoever edited that video needs to be punched in the neck. Constant reframing and splashing text boxes over the thing they claim to be showing is super annoying.

OP, sorry but you suck. You somehow managed to make something like this be lame as possible. I was expecting a timelapse of the thaw of some snow in your area. You literally just put some in a fucking glass and recorded it and want anyone to give a shit? I want to make an identical one and manipulate it to seem like I did it first so I could copyright it and nail your video with a takedown notice.

But then based on some of the fucking shit that gets recommended to me by YouTube's algorithm, I'm guessing we'll be inundated by shit like this and timelapses of paint drying, while other dipshits say it pets their asmr jerkoff sessions.

Seems typical when they show stuff like that on the news. "Here's this cool thing" with some super terrible short shots of it so you hardly get to even see it. Then it's commercial break.
