85 degrees here in CA.

That's brutal, especially given the time of year and knowing it will be even hotter. That comes up to 29C, it's somewhat tolerable with A/C or being sitting around in shade outside, but even a small amount of physical activity and it's instant sweat and being super uncomfortable. It was actually -32 today, I'll honestly take that over extreme heat.

That said when we DO get that kind of heat wave we don't necessarily complain, knowing that it's a break from the cold, but I would not want it for longer than the 1 week of the year it might hit that hot.

I was supposed to get 12-18" of snow here in Southern Connecticut. I actually got about 2 inches of slush. Still, the roads are closed per the orders of our governor. Lovely.

Central, we got a foot. Supposed to get 18" to 26". It was slushy, but I went out every few hours & scraped off the cars & sidewalk so I wouldn't have to deal with the build-up.

Sitting on somewhere around 20'' here in central upstate NY. Above the tops of wheel lug nuts on the vehicle across the street from me, anyhow. Supposed to get another 4-6'' on top of that as well. Good times!

supposed to train it up tomorrow to upstate NY for a photoshoot. NYC Client wants their upstate property shot by a pro for future Air BNB listings. I advised them that due to the snow the exterior shots, a big part of the appeal of the place, would look sub-par due to the snow. Being so much snow it could take weeks for it to melt. Waiting on a response.

Doesn't matter to me. It's an almost all day affair which means I will charge a day rate, snow or not. Let's see what they do.

Any photograph of the outdoors right now is literally going to look like snow on top of a_thing. It all looks the same right now, just stuff covered in white.

You could probably reproduce it in Photoshop with a previous pic and a white brush tool.

And the results are in. Over 500 cities got more than a foot and 15 different states all had at least one city that got 12" or more. Pretty epic storm.

The winner is West Winfield New York with 42". And since they didn't have enough fun they're getting hit with lake effect snow today and could get another half a foot.

Sitting on somewhere around 20'' here in central upstate NY.

My son is right outside of Rochester and he got 18+" with 3' drifts. Said it has stopped snowing but the wind is still howling.

I live in FL and we have freeze warnings tonight. No snow though.

The lemon and grapefruit trees are flowering in the backyard. Smells great.

Also, the joshua trees are blooming west of Phoenix. Smell like mushrooms.

Enjoying the cool days in the 50°s. Clear and sunny.
Should be back up in the 70°s later this week, with the first 80°s of the year lined up for next week.

You can easily fix the snowthrower, depending on what is wrong with it. You can get a new engine at Northerntool.com .. Some (maybe most) new snowthrowers now have Auto Throttle instead of a manual cable. It does not work well in adjusting engine speed in heavy snow and it does not save fuel (it actually uses more). Thank the enviromentalists for this crap. If your unit had a mechanical failure say in the gearbox, parts may be harder to find.
