Snow Leopard external storage quandary

Includes card w/ 2 eSATA ports, so you can actually run two 4-bay rigs from a single card. You can do RAID in BIOS (per port, don't think it spans both ports but maybe), SoftRAID in OS X, or just use them as individual drives.

The case has a port multiplier chip built-in, while the card handles the Hardware RAID if you should desire to use it. The computer's BIOS will just see the first drive in the box, not all of them. The chipset is SIL3132, Leo & Snow drivers available here:

I just had a buddy setup a pair and he says it works great. Be wary of doing hardware RAID - if the card dies or they don't update the drivers, you're hosed, but if you do SoftRAID, the info is on the drives itself (although then you're limited to RAID 0 or RAID 1). Or just do JBOD.
