Snow keeps building up in wheel wells

There has been snow on the ground here for a few weeks, and there is more snow coming.

I got my snow tires put on not too long ago, and they're great.

The only problem is that it seems like snow is *constantly* building up in my wheel well (if that is what you call it). I have rear wheel drive, and every other day or so, there will be so much snow build up that it will be touching my tires. This happens in the front as well, and has affected my turning when it gets bad.

I have gotten down there with various tools, and taken the time to chisel it out...but it takes a while, and it is really annoying.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

Install a bigger alternator, get a huge A/C inverter, and carry a hairdryer with you at all times to "defrost".

Other than that, get some new wheels to use with your snowtires. I'm sure you can get some snow-friendly steel ones from somewhere that are more utilitarian.

You can not do anything about it building up.

You may be albe to spray a silcone based coating (WD40, non-stick kitchen spray, etc) on the wheel well, but I would suspect that it will not help at all.

Best thing is to everyday knock it off.

Why would new wheels help? I'm talking about the area above my tires.

I have had snow build up behind the tires so much that it practically touches the ground, but it has never affected my driving. 😕

Just kick it off, or you can try spraying Pam on it. I used to do that on the satellite dish to keep snow from building up.

Your car comes standard with some 2-400 horsepower and power steering. Dont worry, a bit of snow buildup in the wheel well area will not harm it.

Good grief, you live in an area with mild weather. Just leave it there like the millions of people who live where it actually snows ; it's not going to do anything.

Yeah, if it really bothers you that much, just kick it off.

Have you ever been to Spokane? There is 6 inches on the ground right now and there is supposed to be another foot in the next two days.

Don't talk if you don't know what you're talking about.

Yes, but your profile Bellevue and if you're asking this question you're not used to snow. Either way, just kick it off if, it's not going to hurt anything.

Ignore the haters, it is good you want to take care of your car. What I would do is clean the wheelwells thouroughly with a brush and then coat them with some rubber treatment stuff. It should help if you periodically re apply.
