I’ve seen videos of guys trying to reproduce what this guy does and nobody seems qualified to have the same success.

Simply shocking I say! ;)

Seriously even if it goes "as-shown" in the video but the perp still manages to pull the shotguns trigger that cop is almost certainly going to get messed up bad.

It takes effort to 100% miss at point-blank range with a 12-gauge.... even Chuck Norris would most likely be fvcked!

:D

I can see a cop pulling off these maneuvers against inexperienced gun owners. The cop's combat training allows them to process things much faster.

The pistol disabling is basically simply understanding the fundamentals of the weapon.

A pistol at point-blank range is a VERY different situation then a 12-gauge... WAY easier to miss since there's only one projectile. Bullets make holes... buckshot makes a mess.

Even so if said pistol is pressed firmly into the cops (or anyone's) back/gut with the perps finger on the trigger the cop is almost certainly getting shot before he can do anything.

These maneuvers do seem to be for desperate situations only and requires plenty of practice and strength in their own right(maybe the defender misses grabbing the pistol). Definitely not something as a first option nor can they be really reliable. I mean, they might work on a newb who just got a gun and not trained in other forms of combat but definitely not on someone who has studied the gun and goes to the range all the time, like a rogue law enforcement officer or mob member.

Seems more like a showoff of cop speed vs regular people speed and indirectly....a message not to fuck with any cop.

I've trained all this stuff enough to reach an opinion.

1. If the bad guy gets distracted by something enough to look away, it can work.
2. If you are convinced they are going to shoot you, no matter what you do, it is better to have trained it than not have. The old better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Probably going to get bodied, so understand you are gambling with your life, and you have a dead man's hand.
3. Situational awareness is the best defense. E.G. avoiding an area, or doing your best Usain Bolt impression if your spider sense starts tingling.

It's basically a magic trick. Chances the LEO or anyone else is going to be on point like that when experiencing the stressor of a real loaded gun aimed at them, is very low percentage.

When we train with washable magic markers as knives, you end up needing Flex tape because - "That's a lot of damage!";) Even with a nerf gun, see how many times you can keep from getting shot with any of the disarms trained. The short version - "he dead."

the only chance the cop has of not losing a portion of his chest cavity while trying that, is if the perk's finger isn't actually on the trigger (or inside the trigger guard) at that time, and basically no reason for the cop to know that or not. Just the act of pivoting to push the gun away, is probably going to force the perp's finger to pull the trigger.
