snl will never be as good as it was the first couple of years - like most tv shows. Seems that any show that's any good is micromanaged/diluted until it sucks.
Now, sometimes it's better than the other stuff on tv.
True... But the political stuff and the weekend updates are still consistently funny. other than that, tehy usually have one or 2 great skits per month, along with several dozen horrible ones. The good parts are really good though.
Could be that but I can remember the first time I saw it - was sitting on the couch with the gf, messing around, and we were so amazed that we stopped and watched the tv. It was very different from anything on tv (broadcast tv this is - at the time there was no cable). Maybe with similar and sometimes better offerings on cable, it's not so unique anymore.Originally posted by: CallMeJoe
The first few years of SNL only seem so good through the fog of years - and the cloud of that funny-smelling smoke that made people think they were all that funny back then.Originally posted by: seemingly random

I agree with Engineer. Sheer genius! The writing was fabulous. Fey's Palin was brilliant yet again. These skits have got to be killing the Republicans.
