Good stuff.

Parodies take one aspect of a candiate and blow it out of proportion. McCain is old. Clinton is sleazy. Perot is goofy. Bush and Palin are stupid. I'll take old, sleazy or goofy over stupid.

I literally rofled at the following line: "I believe marriage is meant to be a sacred institution between two unwilling teenagers"

The closing statements were also absolutely brilliant, haven't laughed so hard in ages.

"We don't know if this climate change hoozy-whats-it is man made, or if it's just a natural part of the end of days."

snl will never be as good as it was the first couple of years - like most tv shows. Seems that any show that's any good is micromanaged/diluted until it sucks.

Now, sometimes it's better than the other stuff on tv.

True... But the political stuff and the weekend updates are still consistently funny. other than that, tehy usually have one or 2 great skits per month, along with several dozen horrible ones. The good parts are really good though.
Yeah, when it's good, it's great.

The first few years of SNL only seem so good through the fog of years - and the cloud of that funny-smelling smoke that made people think they were all that funny back then.
Could be that but I can remember the first time I saw it - was sitting on the couch with the gf, messing around, and we were so amazed that we stopped and watched the tv. It was very different from anything on tv (broadcast tv this is - at the time there was no cable). Maybe with similar and sometimes better offerings on cable, it's not so unique anymore.

we look back at reruns of SNL and think they're great, but all the SNL reruns are shortened to an hour -- half an hour of crappy sketches are cut out :p

In the biography 'wired', Belushi is said to have hated the bee skits with a passion. I'd have to agree with him.

snl has had ups and downs in its 30+ years - it's on an up right now. Thank you, john mccain - don't let anybody tell you that you're unappreciated.

Psssst. They're not secret. Almost everyone can feel that good when they touch there.

I think the Palin interviews are killing the Republicans.

I get just as much fun watching McCain/Palin doing their thing for real as they are mocked in parody on SNL.

No, on second thought I think Palin/McCain is funnier live and in person. How can anyone take these two seriously any more?
