Problem is it seems most people are voting on the newwer gen then older as they did not grow up with them.

Like Farley was great but Radner kept SNL alive with some of her work and made it possibale for someone like farley to com along, yet she is losing.

And Myers vs Belushi is close. You have to be kidding. Belushi is a king of SNL like Radner.

Yeah I decided not to vote for this reason. I really like a lot of the older guys, but only because of the movies I've seen them in. I wasn't really old enough to watch them when they were on SNL. As for Hartman, Carvey, Myers, et al I can't fairly rate them compared to the others. I grew up on those guys, and so I'm unfairly biased.

Oh and by the way, giving out awards for art is insane. Chris Rock said that, and he was on SNL.

We're up to the elite eight... how are Eddie Murphy and Will Ferrell tied? Eddie was brilliant, pretty much saved the show when the bulk of the original cast left in the early 80s. Will Ferrell was admittedly quite good, but come on...

Bill Murray vs. Phil Hartman - They're both fantastic, but Phil Hartman is probably my favorite SNL cast member ever, so I've got to go with him.

Will Ferrell vs. Eddie Murphy - Not really a contest, Eddie should take this with ease.

Chris Farley vs. Gilda Radner - Honestly, both of these performers pale in comparison to Bill Murray. I'd much rather see Murray lined up with one of these two so I could vote for Bill and Phil.

Mike Myers vs. John Belushi - Absolutely the weakest contest of the lot. John Belushi was pure gold... what did Mike Myers do beyond Wayne?

Looking at the eliminations so far I can honestly say no one has any taste any more. I don't know that I agree with a single one.

Phil Hartman
Eddie Murphy (duh)
Chris Farley (should be Carvey here, but I never like Radner)
John Belushi (again, duh)

Hartman should win hands down. He was never the flashy front guy, but he was a consummate professional and always funny.

My final 2 would be Murphy vs. Hartman, but I would be hard pressed to choose between them.

??? Will Ferrel is beating Eddie Murphy? How did Ferrel get this far anyway?

Murray VS Hartman is tough, but Murray is my favorite, so I want him to go all the way. Sorry Phil :(

The problem with Chris Rock.. he is a funny guy, good comedian, but a crappy actor. That is why he wasn't on the list I guess.

It has been a lot longer for me.

When SNL was good, the skits would be concepts containing a series of funny jokes. When I last tried to watch it, the joke was the concept with the skit containing unfunny reminders of the joke.

The reason why so many of the old recurring characters (like Samurai, Czech Brothers, Land Shark, Willy the Masochist, Church Lady, Coneheads and the recurring news personalities) worked so well was that they were not the jokes - the jokes were what they said in the context of their characters (like sitcoms). The SNL I saw the last time I watched lacked that.

Phil Hartman -- He might be the greatest snl'er of all time... every character was gold... Murray was better in Movies anyway...
Eddie Murphy -- Mr. Robinson's... Buckwheat.. Gumbi vs. what? The homeless Nam vet? not even a question
Chris Farley -- I love Gilda but come on... I live in a van DOWN BY THE RIVER!!
John Belushi -- This was the hardest... especially since I am a little bias towards Belushi (was my nickname freshmen year of college)... Complete toss up, had to go with Belushi out of legacy... oh and thankfully John died before his did something like "The Cat in the Hat"

Phil Hartman should blow out Eddie Murphy

John and Chris are completely equal... no idea here

Phil versus Belushi (guess)

Belushi takes the trophy home.

Bill Murray is up by 4 votes on Phil Hartman.. gonna be a tough one!

Farley is also only up by 4 votes on gilda

Farrell is up 9 votes on Eddie Murphy.. What a travesty!

Belushi is destroying Myers by more than 100 votes

Three of the races of separated by <1%

Belushi is kicking Myers's butt (as it should be)

I predict Belushi will (and should) win the whole ball of wax.

As long as Ferrell doesn't win. He is still beating Eddie Murphy somehow..

Eddie Murphy wasn't THAT funny on SNL. I mean sure, it's freakin' eddie murphy, but his SNL skits weren't substantially more funny than those of will ferrell, unless I'm forgetting some of them.
