*sniff* I forgot how nice a good stereo can sound...

Some girl ran a red light and I T-boned her like 2 years ago and had to write off my truck. This was right after I put in like 3K in stereo equipment.

I've been listening to some old loud speakers in my house (on my computer) and they just kinda suck. 30W Pioneers. Nothing special.

Anyway, for the hell of it I took out my car speakers and hooked them up (components and subs) to my computer.

I almost cried when I could hear my highs so crisp and clear and my bass nice and tight and responsive...

Unfortunately since I have nothing to mount these things on (and my having such a big room) I'm packing them up again... 🙁

I didn't go with components so I could keep the stock-look of my car, but I have some nice Boston Acoustics SL-series in my car with a JL sub...definitely a sexy combo! When I moved out of the house with mom, I couldn't have a loud stereo in my apartment because I love loud music, so I would be doomed if I kept my Klipsch speakers. I bought a lot of nice equipment for my car and haven't looked back. Though, I definitely miss watching movies in DTS and DD-5.1. I also hate the associated risk of having stuff stolen, even with an alarm.

Do you guys have insurance on your car stereos? I have about $1700 into my setup and it'd be another $60/yr to insure it on my car, but I can see that adding up very fast. ($30/mo covers $2,000 of 'customization mods' to my car, according to my insurance guy)
