Of course I didn't read the entire offer (which you should always do). Unfortunately this came in my wife's name, not mine :(

I missed the most important part, the first paragraph.

You must make at least $100 in purchases within the first 90 days to qualify for 0% APR balance transfer until 2/05 with no balance transfer fees and no annual fees.

Sneaky bastards!

I recently paid off a 15 months @ 0% Balance Transfer offer. So I called CitiBank, asked them to close my account, they asked why I said Chase is offering me 0% for 6 months. They transferred me to their retention department who matches Chase's offer and is sending me a check for $2,000 :)

It took me a whopping 2 minutes to get that 0% for 6 months on an existing account :p

wow, Citibank was always the 'tightest ass' card in terms of offers. Good show, RossMAN

I wish I knew how to contact CitiBank about these days but they only seem to be available via direct marketing.

Damn. I get offers from Chase every week. I think I did myself a favor by bringing down my balance on one card below 50% but alas that is a recent development tho overall I'm not using less the 20% of my total credit.

Maybe because my balance to limits ratios are high (not a good thing) that's why I get hammered with these great offers?

I get a mailbox full everyday. One time for 2 weeks, I got something every single day from Capitol One.

Hey RossMan,

Overall, what's the best credit card out there right now in terms of service and incentives?

Right now I have a Citibank Sony Card which gives me points (that I redeem for movie tickets :p) but other than that is pretty useless, and a Discover card which I only used for the balance transfer at 0%, and is now paid off.

My FICO is at 729 so I should be a prime candidate for good offers. :D

Here is a great Best Credit Card Rewards thread.

I just called Amex about switching from Amex Blue to Amex Starwood, and they said I was prequalified for the Amex Business Gold Card. Same benefits as the Starwood and then some. Annual fee is slightly higher. Worth it?

1) What are these "and then some" benefits?

2) How much more is the annual fee?

RossMAN, there's no disputing your ability to track down a deal, but calling a disclosure that was in the first paragraph "sneaky"?

Tsk, tsk. :p

What else would you expect from me? I hate taking an hour reading the entire offer from start to finish.

I usually flip it to the back to read all the weird fees, there were none.

For whatever reason I decided to read the first paragraph and I was shocked!

"And then some" benefits include access to the OPEN Small Business Network, discounts on Fedex, Dell (5%), Staples, etc. Also choice of discounts or 10x rewards points at a bunch of other stores. Gold card members get priority for concert tickets as well. Annual fee, waived in year one, is $75 compared to Starwood's $30.

The most I'd pay for those extra perks is $20/yr, so if it were me I'd stick with the Amex Starwood.
