SnapRAID and individual drives

I have a simple file server setup with four 4TB drives, non-pooled. Each of these drives has a matching set of two external drives for backup, so I'm not really worried about drive failure. It's a home server so downtime isn't a huge deal.

That being said, I'd still like to add a parity drive for resilience. SnapRAID is generally marketed as a solution for pooled drives similar to Unraid. My question is, can SnapRAID be used to create a parity drive from a non-pooled set of individual drives? Does it care whether Mhddfs or some other pooling software is being used?

From what I understand I don't believe SnapRAID cares how the drives are configured as long as it can read them...I'm just asking for confirmation.

Thanks in advance.
