I've been considering getting a small riding mower for my lawn. I like the small compact size that Snapper offers. Looking for any comments or insight to these mowers.

We have bought a lot of snapper/ferris over the last few years; they make a good product. In general they seem well-designed, and give a very good cut.

I don't personally know the RE series, but have a friend in the industry who is semi-retired and bought one about three years ago to save wear on his knees. He swears it is the greatest purchase he's ever made.

We've owned variants of that since probably the 80's. One we use now I believe we got it sometime in the early 2000's, and it's worked great. Pretty easy to work on (change oil, sharpen blade, etc) and quite reliable and it feels well built. Our engine does use quite a bit of oil, but I blame that on some people doing improper maintenance on it. Otherwise it's been working great and will for the foreseeable future. However if I were to get a new one I would probably try and go for a zero turn, although that does seem to add considerably to cost.

That would be kind of overkill for what I need it for. My yard is not that large. I am looking for something small and compact that I can easily store.

In that case then it would work fine for what you need. However I know nothing about the Re200, the next model up is what we've used. Some of their other newer models seem to have better turning radius's to, which would be nice. If your looking for a basic, simple/easy to use, and reliable riding mower that cuts pretty well then you can't really go wrong with the Re series.

Thanks for the info. I was actually looking at the RE Riders. Their price point is a little more appealing to me than the Re200.
