Which would you chose as a second snake, coming from a 4' ball python.... love the arboreal snakes, and would love to have one in the future... yes i know ETB's have crazy nasty teeth if they were to get ahold of you, but so do GTP's neither are outrageoulsy docile but can be... so go for it!'

and if you have any pictures of your reptilian snake post um up!

Neither, both are WAY too advanced for a second snake.

That. They're fairly expensive, have strict dietary and environmental needs and are best suited for very skilled keepers. From a ball python it's like jumping from a tricycle to a Formula 1 car. Get a few more snakes before jumping into arboreal varieties.

for me, it would be my 2nd snake, for the gf like her 10th... and trust me when i say that i understand the necessary environment they must be kept in... i understand the $1000 outlay for a nice GTP, and then the additional $1000 to get a proper setup for them... I also understand humidity, temperature, and feeding schedule... she is in school to be a vet so yea...

If you have to have one of those two species the python is the better choice. On a scale of 1-10 with the ball python being a 1 the green python will be a 9 and the emerald boa a 9.7

I don't own snakes but find the green tree pythons to be absolutely beautiful snakes. Not that the etb's aren't, but I really like the gtp's.

i was going to echo phoenix.

BUT since the GF has experiance (btw anything harder then Ball pythons?) i would go wtih the GTP. i think they are amazing snakes. they look great.

i been looking to get a piebald or ghost ball python or such. i have had "harder" snakes but i love the ball pythons. I had a chance to buy a baby anaconda (guy got it not knowing how big it was) i passed heh.

largest i had was a red tail boa. but had to give it away because the room i the snakes in was needed for my kids. bah.

my wife just got a 3 yr old Bearded dragon. a friend of hers was moving and couldnt take it. so the space i was planning for my snake is taken up (not to mention the cages i had). now i have to hope i find another on sale heh

Having cared for both at a public zoo, I would never care to have either as a pets. They're almost always pissy, and finicky with their diet, even in ideal conditions....and boring as hell once you get past how pretty they are.

Go for dart frogs. Easy to care for, totally awesome looking and you get all kinds of creative with the enclosure. Just feed them fruit flies instead of ants.
