SN95G5V3 questions

I decided on a SN95G5V3, and have two questions:

1.) Which Socket 939 CPU at Newegg (or anywhere else) would be the current "best bang-for-the-buck"? Would that be the Venice 3000+ ???
Sorry to have to ask, but there are a lot of AMD CPU's right now and it gets a little confusing!!

2.) I have two 512MB HyperX DDR 500MHz (PC4000) sticks from another system.
I know that the timings are very slow with some settings and this RAM. Would this be appropriate RAM to use with the SN95G5V3, or should I get different memory?

Please advise.

Thanks very much in advance,

I just built one of these systems (reused some parts from my old desktop though). I used a 3000+ Venice core. I reused my Kingston HyperX PC3500 ram and 9800 Pro. They have a compatability list of ram on their website. All memory run at really high speeds (PC3700, 4000, and higher etc.) have really lax timings...that's just the way it is. My ram is currently running at 204.5 mhz at 8-3-3-2 though...chances are, unless you get ram that can run at 250mhz, you'll be using a divider and running at the same speed I am, in which case you can tighten the timings.

Do you think that the San Diego core would be worth the extra money??

I would be interested in having available multi-tasking power. I have read mixed reviews on the Athlon 64's capability in this regard, some saying that the P4 Hyper-Threading is better for this.

Please advise.

I dunno...for me, I was on a budget, so I stuck with the 3000+ Venice. A lot of people have been hitting 2.8-2.9 ghz on air with stock voltage. The current week of chips that zipzoomfly is selling right now is supposed to overclock very well (0517 - I ordered about a week and a half ago). I'm hoping Shuttle releases a BIOS soon that'll let us go past 250 fsb.
