SN41G2 WONT BOOT!!!

I just updated the bios on my sn41g2. First nothing was running as i did this with a DOS cd boot disk i put together. So i couldnt immagine something went wrong. However, my system goes into the startup(cpu, memory test ect...) after that it just goes to a blank screen with a command prompt. I have gone through cmos and just cant figure whats going on!! I have tried the failsafe settings, optimal and everything i can think of ( not much as i can tell you 😛 ) But it just sits there with a blinking prompt. Can it be that my HDD went bad during my update? Can it be a cable? or what? I just need help.

Just went there and only found one person with same prob but no idea if it was ever fixed. To discribe it better, after the system test, it goes to a screen were all there is a flashing "_" in the top left corner.

Hmmmmmmm.......

Can you still get into the bios if you hit delete before you get to the " _ " point?

Yes, i just dont think its hardware problem. It just must be a bios setting, just dont know what it is 🙁 But yes, i can still get into bios just about the only thing i can do.

In the BIOS is your floppy one of the choices set in your boot order? I know it seems like an obvious question, but I figure we should rule everything out.

Also... have you tried disconnecting each drive, one at a time? Just trying to eliminate possibilities (bad cable, drive gone flakey).

You should also set everything in the BIOS to the lowest possible settings if you haven't already. For instance, a BIOS upgrade may have changed the way a particular memory time may work... so to eliminate that, just set everything to the slowest setting. If you have more than one stick of RAM, pull one out and try it... if it's a no go, pull that one out and stick the other one in.

Keep us posted on how it's going...

Ok, first i have no floppy drive installed. So i dont have it set to boot from that. Right now its Boot 1: CDROM Boott 2: HDD0

Second, what i have tried already;

I tried disconecting both the hdd and cdrom, one at a time. And nothing.

I tried a stick of RAM from my dad's computer and that made no difference.

I have tried some Bios settings but not setting everything to the lowest yet (have set the fail-safe settings in the bios though) So i might aswell try that next.

Looks like you're doing all the right things.

The only other thing I might try is to put in a floppy and try to reflash the BIOS from it... IF it will boot. I've never seen a situation like yours. Typically if the BIOS is trashed then you can't get into it... but you can! I'll keep thinking about it, but I don't know if I know anything else to try. Sorry....
