SN41G2 - do I install shim and use heatsink compound?

i am trying to put together my SN41G2 and AMD 2500 Barton, but no where in the shuttle directions does it talk about the shim or the heatsink compound. any thoughts?
am i supposed to use the heatsink compound on the core?

thanks.

yes

i have a sn45g and it was in my manual, so i'll tell you.

put shim on chip with side that has up printed on it up and towards the pivot of your cpu lock(i'm pretty sure that's right)

then put the compound, NOT ALL OF IT, on your core spread it around and mount the ice system

Try to reseat the heatsink and maybe take off the shim. There are a few ppl who experience problems with the shim on their processor.

I installed the shim as directed with no problems. That little machine was the easiest most logical installation process I've ever experienced.
Good luck.

Note: apply a thin even quantity of compound just on the core! You might consider checking for some really explicit directions with photos if you're not sure.

yah, you're probably getting overheated and it's shutting down due to either too much or too little compound on your core. try to spread it on with a glove or plastic over your finger. your skin oils can be a problem with that stuff.
