My monitor has a few smudges that I can't clean off. The smudges are probably from acidic buffalo wing sauce :S I've tried 50/50 solutions of water+white vinegar and water+isopropyl. I've tried using q-tips and lens-cleaning cloth. Any ideas? I rather doubt that store-bought screen cleaning solution would help, but I don't really know...

Some LCDs have a non-glare coating. The smudges may be spots where that was rubbed off or removed when the wing sauce was wiped. You may have to live with it if that is the case.

Buffalo wing sauce on a computer screen, really? They are now most likely permanent. Good thing you weren't eating crayfish.

There are a number of treatments proposed as an approach to your issue. The thing to determine is if there is a screen coating that has been damaged as using any agent might begin to remove more of the coating just making the issue larger/more significant. Here are some ideas listed in order of least risk to increasing risk:

1. Add a clear plastic screen protector. Generally this will mask the scuff(s).

2. Employ an agent that fills in microscopic defects. Some of these include silicon sprays or even petroleum jellys ( http://www.ehow.com/how_8596338_remove-scuffs-lcd-screen.html )

3. Use a buffing agent such as Polywatch :

Just put buffalo sauce on the rest of the screen to make it consistent.
