Came in to work a week or two ago, and noticed that using the scroll wheel on my Logitech Trackman wheel (usb trackball) no longer scrolled smoothly up or down. Instead, if I spin it, the first couple clicks do nothing - and then all of a sudden the screen will jump down a few lines. Keep spinning the wheel, and the same thing happens: wait...wait...wait...pop!
Does anyone know what might cause this, or, more importantly, how I can restore plain old smooth scrolling? I've already tried the following:
- clearing & re-setting the 'smooth scrolling' option in IE
- checked the mouse settings in the control panel - nothing looks out of the ordinary
- installed Logitech's trackman-specific software (was just using windows defaults before)
All to no avail - the scroll wheel is still just a jerk
