Meh. 4GB model. Questionable cooling efficiency. Old tech. It's okay, not great. An 8GB model that can flash to 390X BIOS would be a great deal.

got the sapphire version with 3 fans and it stays quite cool at 100% use, only paid about $9 more.

Do you have any benchmark that shows that 8GB helps in games over a true 4GB card?

What's a faster videocard at ~$250? Nothing. Saying the card is "old" tech doesn't mean anything when its performance is top notch for the price. It also comes with Lifetime warranty.

An after-market 290X > a 390 since once both are overclocked, 390 will lose.

Looking at AT's Nano review actually shows how well the 290X has aged. Cards like 980 look ludicrous in comparison to a $253 290X (i.e., you pay $200 for what 12-15% more performance?)

R9 290X is a great 28nm stop-gap card to coast to next generation GPU architectures, HBM2 and 16nm.

I've got this card, I replaced 2 7970's with it. It runs at around 60c when the fans are cranked up to 100%, in a closed case it isn't any louder than my case fans, in an Antec 1200 case.

I initially sold off 2 7970's in favor of a fury x, but after it became apparent that it would be hard to get one of those cards, I went with this. I view it as getting 70% of the performance at 35% of the price.

I also got this card through tigerdirect on a similar deal, but since I bank with Regions I got another 10% off of the price before the rebates. I believe my total cost was 231 for this card after going through tiger direct.
