smoking policy enforcement

What are some ways to enfore smoking policies on college campuses? This is part of a project and I can't think of any good ideas.

 

It would help if you tell us what the smoking policy is.

Not true. The butt containers should be 25-30 feet away. Otherwise people hang out in a cluster around them. Granted, a lot will throw them on the ground, but that is what you have campus security and $200 fines for.

..having delt with this problem we banned the use of tobacco products on the job and got rid of all the paraphernalia that was supporting tobacco addiction ie.special break areas and ash receptors. Two years into it we have no compliance problems..and the place is cleaner with no butts around and about.

It would give them something to do other than busting students for alcohol.

I don't know... realize the smokers are students just like everyone else and let them do what they want? Seriously. I can understand no smoking in the buildings, but give them a break.

Just as a reference, we have the same rules here... no smoking in the dorms, or within 20 feet or so of the building. We also have butt containers everywhere.

Actually some people do care. A lot of people prefer not to walk through stank ass cigarette smoke on the way into a building.
