Ramstore Reselleratings

updates: i emailed ramstore and the sales rep told me that this is 3rd party PCB, and he said they didn't do any testing themselves. It was told to them it is PC3500. But they do have life-time warranty. :)

This is good ram. ITs just samsung 5ns chips overclockable to DDR433 most likely. Samsung doesnt make DDR433 chips yet but the DDR400 ones they have are pretty good. Good price too if you need a 512mb stick, but for I cant justify paying twice the price just because the memory is on one stick and not two.

What's with all the thread-crapping? LOL.

SupermanCK, thank you very much for posting this deal. I've never dealt with Ramstore, but I'm thinking it might be a good time to. I'm going to contact them to ask them what the chip markings are so we can see if it's 'real' PC3500 or overclocked PC3200, I'll post the information here as I get it.

Thanks again for posting this deal, good stuff.

Peace

PC3200 isn't even an official JEDEC standard yet... now PC3500! Wow... Anyways, what motherboards can support PC3500? Seems like this would only be beneficial to those overclocking their motherboards...

Pardon my memory ignorance in this regard, but could someone please take a brief moment to explain in what circumstance one would benefit from PC3500 memory? I am planning on getting a P4 2.4 chipset and DDR but have very little clue why I should opt for more than PC2100 memory. Is there performance benefit if the two chips were run at the same speed?

If you are running both sticks of ram at the same speed and timing settings, then no - theres no difference. If your motherboard supports ram that runs at greater than 133mhz (or you are overclocking), then running 2700, 3000, 3200, 3500 spec'd ram can mean greater memory bandwith

pcXXXX means the memory bandwidth...ie pc2100 means it can transfer 2100MB/s or 2.1GB/s
therefore PC3500 = 3.5 GB/s, but the only problem is you have to be able to run your memory at that bus by raising your system's fsb
PC2100 = 266DDR = 133MHz x 2
PC2700 = 333DDR = 166MHz x 2 (note: this can be achieved by either setting your fsb to 166MHz
or if you are running at 100MHz, and you have an option in bios to set memory to fsb ratio to 3:5, then you will get 100MHz / 3 = 33.33MHz x 5 = 166.66MHz
...
PC3500 = 434DDR = 217MHz x 2, so go figure. You can either push your system to run at 217MHz (1:1), or 163MHz (3:4), or 130MHz (3:5), or 145MHz (4:6), or 109MHz (3:6)
HTH :)

thanks immensely for the information. I am not sure how I missed the understanding previously but your insight made it quite clear. Bump for what will be a real hot deal for those with bleeding edge systems and a motherboard who can run stable at strange ratios. Make sure your pci components can be ratioed separately or will handle these settings.

If this is a third party pcb I would be wary of this deal.
You might consider saving yourself a headach and just buy some true samsung or corsair.

hey if it doesn't turn out to be a quality ram...you can always return it...but ramstore has very good ratings thus far...
