Smokin hot Pentium II/III passive heatsinks

I have a PII 450 and a PIII 500, both passively cooled with big heatsinks. But man those things get blazing hot...is
this normal? The old Intel BX boards don't have temp monitoring at least in the BIOS that I can see so I'm not sure of
exact temps and I haven't installed OSs to these two systems yet.

Can't really see a very good way of putting a fan on either of these. But the fact that the heatsink is hot to the touch...
it's doing its job, right? I haven't seen any instability....just wondering what anyone else's experience with these is...
back in the day I always owned retail PII/PIIIs so never encountered this before.

They are fine. I am still holding on to a couple passively cooled PIIs I might make into a router or a toy Linux box.
