smokers - why do you drive with the window down when you smoke?

Just wondering, while smoking, why do you roll the window down? I mean most cars have ash-trays built in, so that can't be it...could it be because you don't like the smell of smoke?!?!? Now that baffles me, why would you SMOKE if you don't like the smell.......OHHH you like the FILTERED smoke...i see, and other people around you......oh, hmmm, can some of you smokers fill me in on this, since i'm completly confused on the subject....

I dont really smoke very much, but when I do I don't like making the car smell like stale smoke. This is legal as far as I know, even in San Francisco.

That probably happens a lot with you. FYI, after about 2 minutes you can't really see if you don't roll the windows down. And if you accidentally drop some ash, it will go outside rather than on your pants.

hah seriously... i kept altoids in mine (i washed it out first)

kept the car pepperminty fresh!

i took them out, filled it 1/4 of the way with baking soda, and actually USED it as an ashtray after i realized how dumb throwing the butt out the window was..

I smoked on and off for years. I recently quit (again!) and I have always found the exhaled smoke, and the smoke coming from the cigarette itself to be extra nasty, though what I sucked into my lungs was completely enjoyable. When I smoked during driving, I had the window "cracked open" to let the "second hand" smoke out because it bothered my eyes, smelled terrible and was a nuisance, yet I had no problem smoking more than a pack a day. Is that an enigma?

I was just wondering if you channel your exhaust pipes into your car so that you don't spread stinky exhaust fumes where others can get bothered by them?

So far the main reason presented is for visibility, which is quite logical.....any other major reasons?
