i just got a new ultra x-connect 500w atx psu to replace my neopower 480 becuase it didnt have a -5v for my ddr booster.

anyway so i hook it up and it looks nice and all but when i fired it up my computer... it really fired up.

smoke everywhere coming from the pci slot sockets, all the connectors to the motherboard were just pouring out smoke i hav eno idea what the issue is

i reconnected my antec and it was fine. man was that a very unpleasent experiecne for me. i guess i will try returning the psu

any thoughts?

Whoa...that sounds bizzare....... >__< Wish i could have seen it.......... well, look on the bright side, you have a free exploading fog machine whenever you need one :D hehehe Anyways, correct me if im wrong, but you dont NEED a -5V line........youd just be missing the LED readout function :S Spending >$100 for a led readout isnt exactly what i would call a economical decision :p hehehe

yea i know im giving the old one to a friend for christmas... i wanted a new one anyway beucase its more powerful, i like the cables better, and it just goes with my computer better in general. i think that i will be messing with the ddrbooster alot too becuase i dont want to keep my computer clocked so fast all the time so yea... i think it will work out
