Smoke Free NY

Apologies to the smokers... I really don't want to start a flame-war, but it's so nice to go to large gatherings in NY and not have to inhale 2nd hand smoke all night. I went to a volunteer fire-department ham and turkey party over the weekend... usually I leave smelling like an ashtray, but it was a very enjoyable experience. Even some of the smokers (who had to go outside to smoke) commented that it was nicer that the air wasn't completely filled with smoke. I couldn't care less if people smoke... but when you get 50 of them in a small area that doesn't have the right ventilation... it sucks.

Agreed. Like a bowling alley.

Yep, pool halls used to be really bad too. Gotta love NY now!

im a sometime smoker and i say i love this smoke free NY thing. i love how i don't come home reeeking of cigarette smoke. however, these winter months are gonna be tough tho. i wish people would stop ragging on bloomberg, he's doing what he can to make this place better for all us nycers

smoke free around here too
i hated going into my pool hall and not even being able to see there was so much smoke... NASTY!

it's totally GONE now... by law you can't smoke indoors in a public establishment... sweet 😀

Oh the irony of it being a fire department gathering with lots of smoke in the air (in the past).

Welcome to California. We've had no smoking in public places for years. 😎

What amazes me is how long it took a good idea to travel 3,500 miles east.

Not even in bars? There goes my favourite way of meeting chicks, "Say, you got a lighter?"

If the smokers would just not gather around the doorways so I didn't have to cough through a smokescreen when I go in and out of buildings I'd be happier.

BTW, nice sig! 😉

That's because we are much more conservative in the midwest which makes it almost impossible to push through discriminatory laws such as that...

I liked it too.

Until I found out that my Gf's family is in serious financial problems due to lack of business at their establishments.
Not like it was money bags before the laws, but it's worse now.
I guess the true test will come now that the adverse weather is practically here.

It is nice not going home all smelly after going out though. On the other hand, I have this strage fetish with how my skin smells in the shower when I'm washing the smoke off. eheh

I kind of like it too, but not in bars and clubs. Smoking goes hand in hand with bars and clubs. Some NY places are getting around the law by selling cigars (apparently you're allowed to smoke in cigar shops)

The worst LAN party I ever went to had smokers... about 70 ppl total in a bingo hall, maybe a dozen smokers among them... by the 10th hour, my friends and I had to leave; our eyes burned and kept tearing up. It was really, really disgusting.

Wish WA would get some of those no-indoor-smoking laws.

i was just thinking...

someone said to me this afternoon about jersey being a good place because jersey allows smoking in bars, but why the fvck would i go all the way out to jersey just so that i can have the convenience of smoking and drinking at the same time?

all the people who goto jersey, or connecticut just to smoke and drink, are just lame. i was seriously begining to quesiton the impact that smoking had on bars and stuff...honestly i didn't notice any dropoff because of it....

Seems like that's a quick fix, then...Just sell cigars in your bar.

I completely agree.

I have no problem with smoking cigs, but don't make me breathe that sh!t.
