Hey guys I have a mustang that only has 24000 miles. Rarely driven because of work vehicle. I just had it smog yesterday and prior to smogging the car I used a code reader with I/M to check to see if it will pass and it did. The smog station said that my check engine light is on. I told them right before I have them check at the parking lot, I checked it and it was good. Is it possible that the smog guy did something to my car to make it fail? He kept turning my car on and off plus he had a difficult time driving a stick. He must have start it at least 6 times. He wasn't enthusiastic either when I told them I had a coupon for smog test.

After that I reset the car and drove it for 3 days with varying speed... no issues at all.

He probably did the entire check in first gear.

Sounds like the vehicle may have been flooded out because of the stalling due to overall improper test procedure (ie, constant starting, forced stalling then restarting).

Have it inspected and tested at another facility that has demonstrated competent smog testing service personnel.

As you were told in the other forum you posted in, it was probably misfires when he stalled the engine trying to drive a stick. I would lodge a complaint with his superior, this clown shouldn't be doing the testing.

Unfortunately it is owner operated. One of those places who just lie to each other.

I had one that I go to for 3 years but his attitude change when he noticed that I never take my car there for repair, just smog. Since my car was not driven, he tested it even when he knew it was going to fail by not telling me to drive more. I paid $20 for that mistake. So i bought a obd2
tester. I then took it to above place I mentioned.

This smog test is a big racket. They always try to trick you and think you don't know anything about cars.
