Want to buy an off-duty weapon. Can only get a 9mm on my shield. The department uses the 6946 and if I were to get that, I can carry it on duty too. Other choice they give me are either a Glock or Sig.

If I get a Glock or Sig, I cannot carry it on duty, and have to requalify with the 6946 too.

So far, the 6946 seems like a nice, and is what they recommend.

Your feelings?

I feel for you, that is pretty harsh sticking you with a S&W ....
And a 9mm ON TOP OF IT...

Glocks are nice, sigs are good if you buy the big buck stuff,I would reccomend you check out the steyr M9 or S9 very nice guns and the 110 degree angle feels so nice when shooting tthem..and they are reasonably priced, check CDNN ...

Well good luck ...

9mm is less lethal than .38, .40, and .45. It's the natural choice for police officers (just nod and act like I know what I'm talking about).
