Smi switch on mother board ?

Anybody know if this switch isn't used could that be the reason my new computer doesn't boot ????

SYSTEM MANAGEMENT INTERRUPT LEAD (2-pin SMI)
This allows the user to manually place the system into a suspend mode or "Green" mode, where system activity is decreased to save electricity and expand the life of certain components when the system is not in use. This 2 pin connector connects to the case-mounted suspend switch. If you do not have a switch for the connector, you may use the "Turbo Switch". SMI is activated when it detects a "short to open" moment and therefore leaving it shorted will not cause any problems.

I only have a power switch and a reset switch, no turbo switch or suspend switch. I didn't do anything to the two pins just left them. I hit the power switch and the fans spin and the green light glows but there are no beeps and no video card specs on the screen and then bios start uplike my old computer.

<< they seem to ignore the thread in those forums >>

Well they don't ignore it. There aren't as many posters there as there are here. It takes a while for your question to get answered.

I've gotten sh|t for posting here, so don't worry about it too much.
