SMC Wireless High Gain Antenna

Has anyone used the SMC Wireless high gain antenna/Bridge to connect two LAN's? They advertise up to 9 miles range (presumably line of site, but that is not clear...) I am hoping to use two of these to connect my office to a field office 2 miles away (LOS) but have a LOT of trees in the middle... Will it work?

In the Ethernet Wireless installations, the distance quoted by manufactures is usually meaningless.

In the lower price bracket the SMC Bridge, a Hi Gain Antenna is the only one around.

It depends so much on environmental factors that without trying you really don?t know.

If you want to try make sure it is it is returnable.

Those antenna are pretty expensive. It sounds like you're using it for business, but if you're willing to tinker, this might be of interest to you: Pringles can antenna Will cost you about $20 bucks and an afternoon to build two of these. Would be good to test your setup even if you plan on using them permantently. Better than plunking down $300 and then finding out it doesn't work yeah?
